Horsham is a lively community located on the Wimmera River with well-kept streets and parks. It was declared Australia’s Tidiest Town in 2001 and has been a runner-up many times. The beautiful Botanic Gardens, designed by William Guilfoyle, who laid out Melbourne’s Botanic Gardens, is centrally located.
The region is surrounded by excellent wineries. The Norton Estate Wines produces some of Australia’s finest boutique wines with many achieving high accolades.
Stroll along the banks of the beautiful Wimmera River. Parkland and ancient red gums line much of the river. There are several boat ramps and picnic areas available for use. Stroll or pedal along the scenic Lawrie Rudolph Walk as it follows the path of the river along its northern bank.
The Horsham Golf Club has a reputation as one of the best golf courses in Victoria and is ranked in the top 50 public access golf courses in Australia.
Horsham Racecourse also has excellent facilities and an exciting racing program. In the evening take in a movie at the three screen Centre Cinema, or enjoy a meal at one of the many excellent restaurants.
The warm dry climate is perfect for alfresco dining with a glass of fine wine from one of the regions many wineries.
